Japan 2015 - Kyoto: Fushimi Inari + Arashiyama Matcha Town #JAFUNtasticDuo #CEBTravels #Fushimi Inari #Arashiyama

Kyoto: Fushimi Inari + Arashiyama (Matcha town)

Osaka to Kyoto via JR Tokaido-Sanyo Line is only 30 minutes.
Kyoto Station to Inari station is only 8 minutes, once you exit from the Inari station
you can spot the entrance of the Fushimi Inari.

Fushimi Inari

Fushimi Inari is one of the famous tourist spot in Kyoto.
It is famous for its "torii gates".
But aside from that this is an important Shinto Shrine for Japanese.
It is dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice.
You can see lots of fox statues there, since they believed that the foxes served as Inari's messengers.

There are lots of foreigners there.

The trail leads to the top of Mt. Inari,
It is really a long walk, more like hiking.
Thousands of torii gates are donated by individuals and companies, price range would be
400,000 yen to a million yen .

Names of the donors are inscribed on the back of each gate.

There are shops that sells some offerings and candles.

Halfway, you will find a mini- restaurant there. The price is affordable.
Kitsune udon is really tasty.
Buy a souvenir there, it is much cheaper compare to the shops below the mountain.

Made it only halfway,
in order for you to reach the top it would take an hour and half of hiking.
Maybe next time if we don't have any schedules then I will go back here again.
Spend half day perhaps.

While we are going down, we noticed these year of the animals statues.
It can be found back of the Fushimi Inari or the exit way.

We are lucky to witness a live performance there.

 Arashiyama

Inari station to Arashiyama it would take an hour.
From the Saga-Arashiyama station you need to walk to the bamboo grove.
It was really far, this is where google maps comes handy.

Arashiyama is the place for matcha lovers.
Lots of Matcha and flavored matcha foods can be found there.
Also I bought my 1st ever hanko there, thankful that my name is available.

A nice place for picnic dates

end :)
